Wassup fellas, hope you guys are smoking the new year with full throttle !

Well, to begin with, its been about 4 month that I haven't drove my rolla. It first starts with blown radiator fan. Its a simple fix but being unemployed, money don't come that easy. After that, I'm off to Korea for 2 month for industrial training. Come back to Malaysia on end of November and realized that my road tax is out too. To top it off, rolla had not been serviced waaaaay to long. Again, had no cash to send it for oil change and proper servicing. So all and all, the only thing I can do is just warm it up early in the morning.

On December, got several chance to do video coverage of engagement ceremony. Well, at least I can make a few bucks out of it. Continue to do those jobs, sold some stuffs and at last, finally had some cash to repair and upgrade rolla.

To start with, I replaced all the bushing of the rear sway bar. Cost me about 50 bucks for 3 bushings. Spray those color coz thats the only can that I had that time. Removing those sway bar is one hell of a job. Those screws are just built to last. Owh did I just say removing? Installing back is another thing. Fuck

Also bought a steel tube and then welded it into the handbrake lever. There you go, a simple DIY so called drift handbrake. Cleaned the rear drum brake and tested it. awesooomme ! The only thing now is that the tube is too long that it bumps into my reverse gear..shaitz! A cheap tip for those that are using drum brake, try drilling small holes or grind small lines on the horseshoe pad. Clean the inside of the drum or you can just send it to machine shop to remove the carbon. This 2 procedures will definitely give you better lock when you are pulling those handbrake.

Next, off to Sunway or should I say, motorsport heaven to get some parts. I also bought some parts from online store. Just take few days before the packages arrived.

Owh I'm a happy man today.haha..Few more parts arriving soon. There goes my budget for my euro trip..come to think about it again, urgh stresss~

Well, let see..I bought a Forged Racing 12" radiator fan. I was thinking to sandwich it with my oil cooler later. The problem is that I don't think rolla have enough space on the front. Also bought Cusco oil catch tank, Tomei fuel regulator, battery kill switch, Ultra Racing rear bar and also Exedy 3 puck racing clutch set. Since my 4age is from ae92, the clutch diameter is 8.5" which is the same for 20v 4age. Well that's a relief for me since ae86 original 4age is only 8" (correct me if I'm wrong). So this means, no modification needed to use larger clutch. Installed the clutch already and it feels awesome. Yes you cannot compare to "loceng kaki" or any other full racing clutch, but since I'm only using 4age, this should be enough to "tame" the horses.

At first I was thinking to use Triniti but the thing about this clutch is that there is no spring in the plate. So this means, direct force will be apply to your drive train. The main drawback is that it may effect your drive train and engine mount in a long run. Plus, driving with it in city is not a good idea.

While with Exedy, there's a set of springs on the plate. With it, some force can be absorbed. But anyway it depends on yourself actually. I'm not saying that this one is better. Again it depends on your preference.

While in the engine department, I did changed the timing belt with new ones. It comes in a complete set all together with the bearings and other bits. Since I never changed the timing belt and the belt itself is now looking like a time bomb waiting to snap, its a good thing to change it. Cost me about 300bucks for it.

Being a FWD engine, the stock regulator is placed on the back of the fuel rail or at the back of the intake manifold, but since it has been modded to be a RWD engine, the throttle body had been switched to the other end of the intake manifold which means it is now sitting just beside the regulator and squezzing the available space. This makes installing an adjustable regulator a pain in the ass. Bought another fitting since the fitting that comes with the set is too small. As in the picture below, its a tight squeeze between the TPS and the fuel inlet.

Planning to install a surge tank and also a second fuel pump. But for now, that's gotta hold first. The current pump does not supply enough pressure to the engine.

Some people may go for branded stuffs for their car, but for me, I guess some of the stuff that i already put in my car is not actually branded. Yes its about quality, safety and performance but to me personally, I can tolerate on some of it. As long as it does not relate to the engine. For that, I bought some Jasma parts which are pillowball mount and engine oil cooler. I can go with s13 pillowball, but finding one in halfcut shop in my place could be hard so I decided to go with Jasma. The size of the 3 screws are a bit big so some mod had to be done to the body.

Saw some japanese guy in the internet trim his cam pulley cover and reveal the middle part of the cover. Got an idea from that, and there you go. I only trim half of it leaving the middle line intact. I also did a new sticker for my 4-AGE. Since its getting old, so I named it 4-AGED. At first I was thinking to do 4-AGING but too much alphabet. Approve? =D

Notice the position of my radiator? Yeah I shifted it a bit to the back with some custom bracket. So the radiator now sitting slightly about 15 degree to the back. Plus it allows me to fit my Forged Racing fan in front of the radiator. So, as in the picture below, that's the current look of my engine bay. Owh yeah without the pillowball mount.

Working with old car that is older than you are, you seriously gotta keep an eye for the metal very own nature born sworn enemy...he goes by the name of "RUST"

I was changing my rear tires when I saw some rust on the floor of the rear seat from below. I didn't notice it before from the inside of the car since the sound deadening and tar had not been removed. But the view from below the car tells a different story.

With just a screwdriver, knife, sandpaper and a hammer, I start to dig in. Removing the sound deadening reveals the culprit. At first I thought there was only few of em, but then it turns out that there were plenty of em..Shaitz!

See those orange yellowish colored spot, that's most of the rust area. Some of it even already make through the floor. If you notice there are already few holes on the floor. darn it!

Once all the tar from the rear seat side were removed, I was surprised how much this thing weighs. This section alone accumulate about 4-5kg of tar. Haha might as well reducing some weight on the car. Drifting with underpowered car, lightweight is the key. lol

Repair it? Dont have any cash right now, I guess this one had to pass. Just gonna spray it. Weld it later when I have enough cash to do it.

Next on the list is the dashboard. Currently working on it.

Rolla meet up

Again super duper late post, this meet was like 2 month ago. Invited by mista Ariff. Thanx bro..Owh yeah thanx for the photos too..gracias!

This is the first meet that I've join since I brought rolla to KL. Cant recall the name of the spot but whats important is that it have food, empty parking lot and music..yeah we were accompanied by the sound of chinese karaoke.haha

Most of the guys were rollin on e70 chassis but with the appearance of other models such as this dope wagon, it sparks up the meet.

Gotta keep up with the latest trend at that time.planking!

Whats great about meet up, is that you meet new people, talk about something that you like and share something that you have in common. Its a total new experience for me

I have found myself asking a number of unusual motoring related questions lately. Questions like "Why do we build cars?" "Why do they have to cost so damn much?" "Why these rusted piece of metal always let me down?" And really, what is the whole point because you will just sell it anyway? Well, you see, this is the reason..the "experience"

What could be more exciting when u were informed that a drift event were to be held at your own hometown. Being a newbie in this sport, I was so freaking excited, packed my stuff and drive back all the way to muar early to prep up the car for the event. This could be my chance to do some practice since i was really suck at drifting. Since rolla is not in the state to go sideways yet, a lot had to be done, i mean a lottt..suspension department need some rework, surge tank and regulator need to be installed, camber and whatnot need to be installed, but 3 days is all i have. With limited budget, i was managed to do the rear suspension only.

Bought a set of rear toyota lorry damper way back then, the specs is pretty much all i wanted, stiff and short stroke...but sadly too short. I can't even put on the upper bracket. So bought another set but this time a bit longer and too soft but anyway I decide to just use it. We'll see how it will works out. So now i have 6 piece rear damper? LOL

Also bought a set of Estima coil springs. The black one is the old one. See the difference of the coil thickness?? yups this one is way more stiffer. Hopefully this will do the job. Just need to cut it down to get the right ride height.

Tested it out and yeah definitely feels the differences. What more could a happy face can tell. Maybe it need a bit more adjustment here and there but so far it does the job. Owh yeah the stickers arrived. "illest" and "fatlace".

Oke here comes the sucks part. The night before the event, we were informed that the organizer had to cancel the event due to some reason. It even made into the newspaper my dad says. Owh come on..I worked too hard to prep up the car just to know the event were to be cancel. last minute..awesome !!. But anyway, nak buat macamana..dah xde rezeki i guess...takpe lah...next time hopefully.Even one of my buddy drive a track car all the way from kL to muar to participate this event.

Tire barrier were already lined up at Stadium Muar for the track and although the event is cancel, the track layout is there. So on Sunday, got a text from ip asking me to join him tearing up the track. hentam sajalah labu..hahaha

here's ip test driving or should i say test drifting my rolla. I never knew my rolla were able to go sideways like that with full countersteer..given a good driver on the wheel, I can say this car got some potential..now i see clearly that its not rolla which is the problem..its me..im the one who can't go sideways till now (T.T)

We were lucky that no police interfere when we were there. Rotary does scream loud and soon enough, people were already crowded the track side watching two fools going sideways.hahaha...but I did use 1set of tire only. It was magrib already. Given a bit more time, money and place to practice, i could improve.sob sob

Damn im tired of searching the right workshop and mechanic to handle my rolla.

I am a automaniac and even back then when i was rolling straight with two wheeler, the scenario is the same with the one Im having right now. I just cant find the right person.

This time, thought I try back my old mechanic. He's more into vtec stuff but he does a good job except the expensive price tag. But anyway, i give it a try. This time, to repair the loud whining sound that was coming out from my rear axle. Ask a few friends before and they suspect the axle was too tight or the malay term; ikat kuat sangat. Plus i want to change the axle oil too, so why not jack down those bulky axle down and see whats the culprit.

To my surprise, the welded on the gear was broken. Im pretty sure that is because those previous guy didnt weld it strong enough. I mean come on, the engine is only pumping out around 100+ hp..You cant say the engine is strong enough to break an axle. For sure the weld is not strong. And its already broken the 2nd day after it is welded..And now it need to be welded again. duit lagi baaaang. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer..

Also had the rear horseshoe replaced and skimmed the drum cover since it had been covered with oil and hard carbon. Thats why my handbrake never works. I was pulling like hell hard but still the rear tyres wont lock. Thats because the carbon and oil layers eliminates the friction between the horseshoe and drum cover. I need those friction !

Tried out the handbrake after that and it feels great !!

Oke back to the axle problem. After being welded again for the 2nd time, new axle oil, gear alignment and all that.....it still whining !! darn it !!..OKE NOW I GIVE UP !! probably just had to live with it or get an LSD or loose socks drift what nomura called it. There i was, driving back home with a broken heart (T.T)..But anyway i did feel something different with rolla after that. floor je pedal, lain macam je pegi die..its like my 4age on steroid..vtec kicks in?? i dunno..maybe this picture tells something

Arrived muar last week with these stuff to be accompanied for the weekend. Front bumper lip, steering wheel, tyres, rear abs and some liquids for rolla. DIY time!

The lip fit nicely with some screw. Owh yeah, i did remove the front metal bumper to allow more air into the engine bay. Plus rolla looks mean without it. Since the signal lamp and my old number plate is attached at the bumper, so no more signal and i had to make new bracket for the new number plate. See those dust on the hood, yeah rolla had been sittin there for quite some time. Fuckin miss drivin it. But a weekend is all i got

Did some photoshoot that evening before i go back to KL. Where else, stadium muar. But no drifting this time, reserving those tyre I bought for next month event..kalau hati dah cukup kering lah nak masuk =(

This is as far as my arches allow. Cant get any lowered than this. Tires were already brushing the arches from inside. But it still effing high! FLUSHED fail!

Some late post. Back during new year eve, thought of having some practice at stadium hang jebat malacca. Since ACE drift challenge 2011 were held at afomosa on that weekend, why not go there too. So off rolla to jebat early in the morning.Its freaking 6am from muar..hahahha..yeah purposedly go there early morning..less traffic and less police to mess around during practice. Finally some peace of mind.

Installed a 1" RCA the day before and hoping that it will show some +ve results. yeah right. And then comes another problem, the arches dont fit, so need to increase the height a bit and secondly, i just know that rolla have a body alignment problem.damn it

Arrived there around 8, and yes alone..

Back to basic which is figure 8 yang tak dapat2 nak master dari dulu lagi..haaaisshh

And on the afternoon, ACE drift challenge at afamosa.

Locked the diff few weeks back but didnt have the time and place to try it out..So today just got back from kL, grab the key, packed up the stuffs, changed the tires, and roll out..

The car currently running on stock setup on the front suspension. No adjustment on the caster, chamber and whatnot..So the car handles quite hard. Rear suspension was too buoyant and too soft. So, not much of a response from the back of the car. i cant really feel when the car starts to slide and when it slides, the car goes to mode "senget sebelah"..But till then, im just gonna practice with this current stock setup.

And yes, thats the new rim that i just bought, looks good on rolla !

I bet residents near the stadium had been used to the sound of tyre screeching and loud exhaust sound..before this, Ip used to practice here..now its my turn..guess i need to find new spot after this

Next on the list, caster and camber !

rolla's new shoes

Few month earlier, got myself a deal with fadzil for a set of rims for my ride. Well, after few months of delivery direct from the land of rising sun and a few months more delay because apparently i got no money to pay him.lol. Well here it is

even the box cover is japanese..hehehe

A set of 14" longchamps..2 pieces with 6.5jj and another 2 with 7jj. The rest is fadzils. He got himself a set of 7.5jj...dammmn=(

Old school rims had gone through many years of usage, so I replaced all the old rusty bolts that hold the rim together with new ones, lay on some fresh black color on it and lastly some cleaning and polishing. tadaaaa....Sadly, no tires for now...huuu

Currently the pit area aka reading corner..hahaha.. Notice the black + fluorescent yellow rims at the back..well, found a set of it under my bed. Never knew it was there for these years..hahaha..Actually those are the standard rims for the first proton saga back in 80's..Belongs to my dad. Well, founders keepers.sorry abah..hahaha..sprayed it black and yellow..since it is 13", new tires are cheaper so i'll be using it for practice. Already surveyed Falkens ziex for it..for now, i can only afford to get two ziex ze322..

Cant wait to put it on rolla..but sadly, this monday the 6th will be my first day of internship at Bukit Jalil..so i'll be leaving rolla for a while..till then =(

KE70 update

well, its been ages since i post up update on the car. since it has been almost 1 month in the body shop and another 2 month in the paint booth. took a long time repairing the body. but overall, im pretty much satisfied with all the waiting and pain in the pocket. night hawk pearl black which is taken from Honda had been choosed for the color. since the body was welded all around, a lot of plaster and cement job needed to be done on covering the flaws. i also replaced some of the parts such as the fender lamp, bumper lamp, side lamp and some more in the inside. also managed to redo the dashboard. no more stock meter panel=D

a bit of drifting action on raya eid evening. quite surprise with the smoke made with those tires. i guess i'll be sticking with this one for a while. falken ziex z322. sprayed the center of rear rim with fluorescent yellow. for the fronts, i'll work on it later. currently saving up for another set of rim which hopefuly will be able to be fitted in my car by end of this year.

MOFAZ MME 2010 press conference

The 2010 edition of MME is to receive another boost this year as the Mofaz Racing GT4 team this time around comprises of F1 third driver for the 1Malaysia Lotus team, Fairuz Fauzy, with support from younger brother Farriz and seasoned GT driver Rizal Ashram Ramli. Thursday 5th August 2010 saw the Mofaz team holding a press conference at pit 30 of the Sepang International Circuit as the team prepared for Saturday’s race, which this year will start from midnight and end 12 hours later at midday. Driving the Aston Martin Vantage, the team commented during the press interview session on what they would be expecting for the race.

Q: What are your expectations for this year’s race?

A: -Fairuz-We are focusing on reliability because in the past the record for our teams reliability has been an issue. We are trying to have more tests even though we have such limited time and resources and see how it goes from there. We want to have a good package strong enough to finish the race first. Last year we were on Michelin tyres and this year using the Pirelli prove to be something different and new, and us, as are other teams are struggling with tyre wear. So wwe’re trying to get a set up that will conserve the tyres better.

A:-Farriz-Yes I too have the same expectations as my brother and we hope that showing the pace we have we can have a good pace and hopefully win.

Q: How did you get the idea to enter this year’s MME?

A: Fairuz-The schedule for the MME this year fortunately does not clash with my GP2 schedule so I felt that this would be a good time to come and help a local team, and get some endurance racing and fitness under my belt.

Q: How much racing are you doing this year?

A:-Fairuz: I am having a schedule at Silverstone, testing at Spa and Hockenheim so with this added drive at Sepang will give me more driving time and fitness as currently in F1 we have limited driving time as testing is only done in the weekends.

Q: What do you feel your chances are this year?

A:-Rizal-This year with such accomplished team mates, I am feeling that we will score a very good result, and I personally feel that we would be able to go on and win the race. We need to be gentle but still aggressive enough on the cars so that we will not repeat last year’s DNF.

Q: Who do you think is your biggest rival?

A:-Rizal-We admit that it is car “211”.

Q: How much concern is qualifying to you?

A:-Farriz-As far as grid positions go; we are ok with any placing. We are intent on securing the best position as possible, probably at least 3rd. But the race is long so we are confident that we can do the pace and match the other teams, so qualifying well is good but finishing the race well is our priority.

Q: What do you feel about other powerful cars competing in your category?

A:-We are more concerned with getting the reliability as it has been proven a lot of powerful cars couldn’t finish the race in past editions of the race. And we were winners in 2004 and 2006.

Q: Why use Aston Martin?

A:-Actually it was a last minute decision but it’s a good car and we should be getting the most out of it.

Q: This year’s team consists of the Fauzy Siblings. Care to elaborate?

A:-Actually it has been Mofaz’s dream to have the three brothers in the team, so called the “Mofaz Dream Team”. Only Ferhad is not here due to his tight schedule in the UK.Furthermore they are extremely competent drivers.

Q: How do you expect to be on the podium come the chequered flag?

A:-The team is looking good and so is the car, with the consistency that they have the podium is looking as a possible outcome.

Q: How do you think the weather conditions will affect the team?

A:-We are expecting a tough race if its dry as the tyre wear is quite high, but due to the limited rain testing and lack of wet weather data, we hope that it stays dry, and we will try to be as gentle as possible on the car to conserve the tyres.

Q: How are the laps times coming?

A: - Fairuz-We are registering very competitive times, so that spells a good form for the team against the other teams. We will however try to stay clean and avoid contact as the team are low on spares. We just have to stay good on the grid and target to finish.

And now, meet the mean machine that will be driven by the MOFAZ team drivers for the race. A 4.7 litre Aston Martin racing V8 GT4 engine were equipped as the power plant to generate enormous horsepower and enough torque to send goosebumps to anyone who will be driving it.

GOOD YEAR international drift series 2010 round 2

Malacca International Motorsports Circuit, a brilliant circuit which combines various type of tight corners. Known as the largest go kart circuit in south east asia, it have been selected for the next spot for Good Year international drift series for 2010 on 31st of July and 1st of August. As a go kart circuit, the width of the track itself is quite small in some area resulting a very technical track for drifting.

This time, they really looking for the marking criteria such as the speed, angle and lining. Time for some serious entry speed !!

Qualifying were divided into two group, group A and group B which they were given a period of time for official practice on that sunday morning

Owh yes...the burnout..the smell of rubber, nitrous added up with the sound of spooling turbine..You definitely gotta love this

The track were partially closed on some corners producing three very challenging corners for the drifters to tear it up. The first corner stretch pretty long after straight full throttle passing in front of the grandstand. Average speed of initiating is around 80-90kmh at the first outer clipping point.

Some of the drivers are brave enough to get close to the tire wall at first initiation. Imagine going close to the wall, brushing the rear tail as initiation commence, what a great adrenalin rush !

Coming next is a transition to right side into the second corner. Around here, the speed mostly had reduced to around 60k-70kmh but still drivers are putting the pedal to the metal when coming out of the first corner. Owh its really good to hear the sound of rev cut off here.

White smoke was tremendously coming out from his exhaust indicating another engine failure. This time, its the new piston. 3 out of 4 pistons were fried but luckily the car were able to be driven until the best 16. Zul manage tp qualify for the best 16 and faced Ivan Lim.

Being inside a track, beside photographing the event, at the same time watching a single car in practice session tearing up the track is really amazing as you can study each car in turn, hear the throttle modulation, see their braking point and view their different lines of attacking. One car and one driver together against one corner.

Coming up next is the second corner. Most probably this is the spot where all drifter do what they do best, yup..smoooooking

And yes lastly the last corner after a quick transition coming out from the second corner into this one. Most of the driver need to slow down a bit when going into this corner as this one is a bit small compared to the previous corners.

Official practice ends at around 12pm before the official qualifying session starts. Out from around 20++ drivers, only top 16 were selected for the tandem battle next. During the break between the practice and qualifying session, i take the time to do some pit walk.

Ok, proceed with the qualifying, 16 top qualifiers will be battling for the 1st place prize. Among them is Tengku Djan who qualify with the highest mark, Ariff Johanis, Chester Lim, Rhenadi Arinton, Along rempit, Ivan Lau, Tan Tat Wei, Mervyn Nakamura, Bullzai, Zul hachi and others.

Next on the list is the tandem battle that we've all been waiting for. Representing Good Year is Ariff Johannis, Jane, Loyai, Michael Gan

Next on the starting grid is Zul hachiroku. Facing him on the best 16 tandem battle is Ivan Lim with his S13. Both of the car is powered by the same engine but this pearl baby blue KE aint giving up yet. This one still have a secret weapon which is the weight of the car itself. The only bad part of it is that the engine would probably last for 2-3 laps more. Apart from the engine problem, Zul still perform his best effort in the tandem battle. Cant wait for his missile hachiroku to come out from the paint shop.

project update : damn u rust !!

After few weeks searching for the right paint shop, well u know i dont wanna kena tiao bout the price, finally found one shop at Malim area, Malacca. NLN paint shop was the choice as they kinda have a good facilities and workers. Hopefully it is a right choice. A week after the car had been left at the paint shop, they found few rust spot where it need to be welded with new metal sheet. The holes could just be repaired by using fiber and cement but it wont probably last long. So i take out the car and back to the body welding shop again.

Theres a bit of rust here and there at the floor area both front and rear. Cant afford to repair the whole of it so just weld some spot at feet area. Also weld a new mounting and bracket for the new bucket seat that just arrived=).... Probably will have the paint shop to apply new tar and anti rust layer on the floor area later.

Remember that i once told that about all the stuff that i "hentam n sagat" on the left side of the car because of there's no side mirror on that side. Yeah still can't find any OEM/ toyota side mirror for this car. The only replacement is that CF F1 style side mirror which could cost me around rm250-300 or get a whole door panel for KE70 GL version. So heres, some cheap ideas for the new side mirror. Kinda an experiment..hehehe..guess what side mirror is that=)

Since my car will be undergoing a major body restoration around next month, why not have some photoshoot for it. just a simple photo session and not much of editing is done. pretty much what u guys see is direct from camera with a simple touch of photoshop. the same previous location that i used to shoot for my 1st car which is behind giant mart muar is choosed and sunset is the time period. got my buddies with me from synthetic media to help with the shoot.

this rusty machinery will undergoes some body work repair. i need to fix the leaking floor panel first both in passenger side and driver side and then perhaps spot weld some of the location such as front and rear tower bar and engine bay to reinforce it more. some body cutting will also be done on the front body near the radiator to increase the amount of direct air into the engine bay and also the radiator.

the engine bay will be repaint with flat black while the engine itself will also have new color to give it a much fresher looks

see those rusty part.. i seriously need to repair those asap. hopefully it wont effect the new paint job.

probably will get a new DX chrome bumper or just repaint this one with black again. cracked side signal cover both the orange and white one need to be replaced with new ones. new side mirror will also be mounted. cant bare the damage ive made to the left side of the car since there is no left side mirror.parking wall, metal gate, probably everything dah kene sapu..lol

well its been a while since i last updated on my project progress..kinda busy with all the repairing process.

on sunday last week, just have a bit of shopping at car accessories shop around malim, malacca. bought HKS super flow reloaded air filter since my simota air filter is too dirty and the rubber mounting had ripped apart. i also replaced the belting for alternator and compressor since the old one already wear out. next, i changed the battery to yokohama because the old battery dindnt have the enough juice to crank up the engine to start. hopefully this one will last long.

the only problem with this air filter is the hood clearance issue. because of the large diameter compared to the old air filter, its a squezze fix.

since im free this week, thinking of going back to muar. since its been quite a while that i dindt go home..even my mom say " asek keja keja keja..belajar camane?? balek kampung pon dah jarang " hahaha..sory bu..

while im there, why not survey some workshop over here..heard a few worshop that is familiar with rwd car..and because my clutch plate was out, i sent natalie to Dnan auto to replace the clutch and also repair the oil leaks at the oil pan. the replacement was suppose to be around 3hour but it takes the whole day. and even after the clutch is replaced, as soon as i start the car, i noticed there is a problem. smoke was coming out from the gearbox. it turn out that they installed the wrong clutch bearing resulting the clutch cover to be spoiled and burned..there goes my exedy clutch..huhuhu..luckily the owner are willing to take the blame, and the next day, they replaced the bearing and clutch cover with new ones. all those problems with shifting gear is now gone. the only problem now is just the gearbox, which quite hard to downshift from 3rd to 2nd.

repaired the leaking on the oil pan. this was after some cleaning with wd40, but before that it was quite a mess. oil leftover was everywhere

i also managed to have a bit of shopping for the interior..the first plan was to re done the meter panel and replaced it with a plastic plate and installed all the new meter on it. but my carbon panel is not arrived yet, so i just installed the new meter on top of the original meter panel. bought a NRG performance meter which is oil temp and water temp. both of it cost me around rm640 including installation and adapters for sensors.quite expensive actually for a brand like that. beginner..nak beli defi ngan apexi tak mampu lagi..meter camni pon jadila.

well thats all for now..duit dah habis..i need to save up some more money to proceed with this project..next on the list is paint job, long shaft and bucket seat

After a couple month of CCM (cut cost management) and part time working, i manage to save up some money to start my own car project. The first plan is to buy a Nissan Cefiro A31 but after some financial problems and shortage, i changed to plan B which is to buy the cheapest rear wheel drive car in the market which is a Toyota Corolla KE70. Although my interest and heart was on the Cefiro, i still need to change to the corolla if i want to proceed with this hobby. The car was supposed to be a on road car which i will be driving all the time. Plus, a corolla road tax and insurance cost will not be as high as a cefiro. Well, i gotta have a financial plan since i need to maintain two cars and a bike now and to make things worst, im still a student..huuuuu

After some searching, i managed to find one seller from Seremban area who wants to sell his corolla with a quite interesting price. The first price given is RM8800 but after some negotiation , I did manage to get the car for RM6350 complete with a 4age engine, T50 gearbox, ae86 long shaft, sport rims and air con. And the story begins....

On 13th of March, I come to Seremban to have some look of the car. The first time i saw the car on the traffic light as the owner arrives, i already fall in love with it. Not sure what is the feeling but it was heart pumping. Furthermore, Mr.k which was with me at that time, saw 73workshop sticker on the car. We were relieved to know that the car was maintained by Ah Song 73 workshop.

After some business talk with the owner, i and Mr.K did a test drive on the car and we immediately address some problems with it. First, the clutch is out. I need to dump all the way to the floor before i can enter a gear and sometimes, it quite hard to enter most of the gear. Then the suspension, simply said it was too buoyant or feels like floating on a boat. Maybe i need to have a proper setup for the suspension or just replaced with a new ones. Next is the gearbox which i have problem down shifting from 3rd to 2nd and the last problem is the long shaft which i think relates to the coupler because as soon it reaches 80-90kmh, the whole car starts to vibrate like hell. While for the body of the car, it was not in a good condition, rust were quite a lot at different spot and seriously this car need a new paint job. But was surprise me that day is how much torque and horsepower that car got. 1st and 2nd gear puts quite a great amount of g force to the driver, owh hell yeh i like that !! as soon as it hits the powerbands around 3k-4k rpm, it shoots like shit i tell ya..hahaha

after a few days later, i confirmed with the owner to buy the car. On 17th, i came to seremban again to settle down all the document transfer, Puspakom, JPJ and also the payment. Thanx to the insurans company, we managed to settle all those things at around 3pm that day. later that day, i drove it straight to Malacca. The ride were really tiring as i need to maintain the speed below 80kmh to avoid the crazy ass back paining vibration. Luckily ibu and abah were willing to come all the way from Muar to convoy with me. Thanx bu n bah !

The next day, the car wont start due to power lack. The battery were out and need to be changed. Thanx to the help of min and din, we pushed the car to start the engine then off the the nearest workshop. I changed the battery to yokohama and have the engine serviced. Changed the engine oil and replace the oil filter. I also replaced the compressor belt and starter belt and also have them check the vibration problem and it was the coupler just as i suspected. Also spot a small leak on the oil pan below the engine. I guess i need to replace the gasket next.

later that day, came to zie house to pick up some stuff and to do some DIY's. hehehe

clean up some rust on the long shaft and at the shaft coupler with some WD40 and brush. Cant believe it works. Although the vibration is still present at high speed, but after the WD40 treatment, it pretty much became lesser

the new rubber bushing for the exhaust piping. no more dangling muffler..hehe

KBS-FXopen asia drift challenge 2010

KBS-FXopen asia drift challenge 2010 was held at MAEPS serdang using the already establish track from Saturday Night Drift events that were held every week there. The event were held on 20th February 2010 and this particular event is a one day event which starts at 9am Saturday and end at around 2am Sunday. Sponsored by Kementerian Belia dan Sukan and FXopen Asia, organized by Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) and KartQuest, and supported by Feinto-D, the event attracts more than 30 drivers to participate in both novice and expert category.

This is the second event for our team for this new year. A good start for the team as our driver, Mr.K and the team manage to free some time to join this event. Zie pick me up at my campus at 6am and we drive straight to Seremban to pick up the car. Luckily towing arrived not long after we arrived at the workshop.

Then we drive straight to Serdang with the towing. On the way there, i just remember that i forgot to bring my sunblock and UFO hat.Guess i'll be badly tanned again this time..huuu....We are the first to arrived at Serdang at around 9am. K were already at KL that time with Ijal n Icak. So while waiting for them to arrive, me and zie do whatever we can to clean up the car before the event. Since the car is previously parked inside a "kilang papan", sawdust were all over the place.

We didnt expect that during best 16, K will meet oly. Luckily they practice tsuiso together during the practice run. From my view, both of the driver put on an awesome run. K manage to squeeze his front bumper as close as he can to oly rear bumper during this time. Here's some pictures during the practice run

Official practice run ends at 7pm and continue with the best 16 qualifying at 8. Drivers were given 3 run which includes 1 warm up run and two judges run. Best mark from either two of the judging run will be taken as the official mark. Warm run for K was quite good but all our hope was gone when K straighten on both of his judging run which scores him a low score if im not mistaken is around 64. Im not sure whats the reason but alhamdulillah, he did manage to qualify for best 16 and will be facing oly.

Im not often at the track shooting pics for this event since i need to standby at the pit area. The distance between the pit area and the track was quite far adding up the reason why im not at the track all the time like before. Plus the night time shooting was quite hard for me as low light condition effects the pictures. But i did manage to snap some of the pics during the night session.

ACE drift challenge round 1 2010

What else to end 2009 with Formula Drift 09 and start off the new year of 2010 with another drift event which in this case is ACE drift challenge that is organized by ACE suspension at stadium Hang Jebat Malacca on the 2nd and 3rd of January. A lot of drivers participate from all around Malaysia which include 3 trailers from KL area and 1 trailer from JB and also some of them that come on road.

ACE suspension said the event will be continuous event throughout the year as more round will be held after this. Hopefully 2010 will bring a good year for drifting scene in Malaysia as we will aspect a lot of drift event throughout this year including stardrift and FXopen.

The track were said to be more technical as it consist of short stretch of run before initiate around early 3rd gear and some car in 2nd. The first corner includes 3 clipping point which 2 outer and 1 inner. The second corner is a killer one where a sharp turn is needed after you get out from the first corner. All the speed and momentum from the first corner is suddenly killed or reduced to take that particular corner.

i can say it was a successful event accept for the judges. most probably all the drifters that joined this event knows bout it. Hopefully the organizer would consider about this issue to improve on the next round.

i cant recall what this guy name was but he's my personal favorite drifter for the day. From my view for the past two days of event, this guy is doing some awesome great drifting, he's brushing the outer clipping point like hell and he's doing it with only a KE. a brand new addition on my rc drift machine, yokomo drift package which include MR-4TC shaft drive chassis. the reason i choose this chassis is first, it from Yokomo, second is its the most cheapest Yokomo chassis on the market compared to drift master package and other yokomo belt drive carbon chassis. and lastly is because i want to replace my old dirty sexy naughty bitchy drift chassis. a new start on a new trusted platform but im surprised how long the old chassis last since i abused her on drifting last year and plus, it is a cheap china branded chassis which i need to do a lot of upgrade to make her able to drift, keep up in tsuiso battle and withstand the abuse..hahaha...the build takes me two days because i didnt have enough time to fully concentrated on her as i got classes and work to do. but i was fully satisfied with the build as it was my first time assembling a full chassis from ground up. all parts need to be assembled from absorbers, mountings, gearbox, axles, bodyshells and others. the chassis need to be ordered from KL as it was out of stock. shit happens when i know the price tag had increased since i last surveyed it.the chassis itself cost rm870 which is quite cheap compared to KL area prices. but overall i spent more than 1k that day as a lot of things i need to upgrade. i also bought another bodyshell which is an ae86 from HPI racing. the bodyshell that comes with the chassis is swap with another bodyshell also from yokomo which is Bee R324R. why?? RARE.....

Just a week after FORMULA DRIFT SINGAPORE, drift scene were heat up again with another big event. This time, its JOHORE DRIFT OPEN in conjunction with Karnival Permotoran Muar 2009 from 10th to 12th of july 2009. The event were held at Maktab PDRM Muar and with the help from them, MEP services were able to organize this event successfully. Main sponsor for the event were FUSHIME auto parts and BUMI TYRE and not forgetting PDRM and JB drift club.

At the beginning 36 driver were registered for this event but then later on only 32 driver left for the qualifying after having major trouble with their machine. Some big name driver such as hanizam@loyai and zul were also there although they just returned from FD Singapore and only have a week to prepare their machine for this particular event. Some other driver such as Mr.K and Tan from ace suspension team, nabil and lan from drift zone, rocker, eddy and ben from team fushime and many more driver across Johore area and others were also there to compete for the podium finishes.

Saturday session were just for practicing run for the driver. The track that were already setup by the marshals on Friday is the same layout from previous session with only some minor adjustments. Saturday morning start off with the local fire department cleaning off the track surface with their water jet to remove all the sand from the track that is previously became a big problem among the drifters. With the track cleaned, driver that already there in the early morning heat up their machine and soon were already smoking up the track. Later on that afternoon, the pit area were filled with drivers, pit crews and not forgetting their drift machine.

Although the track were cleaned from sand, there are still some leftover on the outer side of each corner especially on the first clipping point where a lot of driver that trying to get their tailed out, accidentally caught by the sand and dragged out to the tire wall. Its quite challenging for all the driver which use the outer side to maintain their drift and not to crash.

Despite the sand, drivers still continue practicing to get their perfect line. To some of the driver, the track were challenging especially on the first corner. This is caused by the length of the corner from the first clipping point to the second one as it stretch quite a distance. So, the drivers must maintain their drift throughout the corner without understeer. In the morning, it seems impossible, but later on that day, most of the drifter were able to tackle that corner without much problems.

The practice run were continued at night around 8pm till midnight. The track were crowded with local spectators and drift fan who came to see the night drift actions.

Sunday session start off early as drivers rushing to get their perfect line before the qualifying starts. They also push their machine's to the limit to gain full speed throughout the corners and to maintain their drift line because judges wants to see drivers sliding their rear and front end as close as possible to the tire wall(clipping point) as well as their speed, angle and not forgetting...smoke.

At 2pm, the practicing stops to give a way for the official opening ceremony. All the drivers were called to line up their car in front of the stage. The ceremony is ended with thrilling heart pumping action from the PDRM and FUSHIME auto parts which is a demo of cat and mouse chase. It is then followed by drift demo from one of drifter from DRIFT ZONE,D-raa with her 180sx.

Next on the event list is qualifying session. This time, the best 16 driver will automatically inserted into the expert category and 8 more driver will be on the novice class based on their qualifying marks.

ajijah sakura design

i was given the job to design a sticker set for mista padel's ajijah. he said he wants some sort of sakura + japanese + flower theme. so later on that night, i turn on my old rusty laptop and begin my quest.hehe

most of the design, i just google it and take whichever interest me. then i used photoshop to make some editing and adjustment to it. im using a picture of the car' side as a mock up to do the editing. finally i came up with 3 designs and i submit to him and let him choose which is the best.

in the mean time, i surveyed all the sticker shop in muar to find the best price. in the end..ah chai came up..quite cheap actually..

few days later he came up with his dicision. i made a few adjustment with the design, print it, took the car from workshop and send it to ah chai sticker shop. and the work begins....

johore drift series

the event was held on 28th of june. this is not the real event.just a testing event to test the new track and layout. i was invited to this closed event by padil. most of the drivers are from johore area. teams like rattlezasia, fushime, drift zone and others were also participating in this event to test and tune their machine.
the session start around 11 am and end at 6pm. the track layout this time is quite large especially on the first corner where the first corner stretch quite some distance and for some of the car, it was very challenging to maintain the slide throughout the corner. the second and third corner was basically a simple outer and inner section drift. the entry speed for most of the car for the first corner is around 100kmh.
the only enemy for the all the drivers is the tarmac condition where there is a lot of sand on some area of the track and the tarmac is not so smooth. this caused different tire traction when drifting. based on some interview from the drivers. so heres some pics..

stardrift challenge round 2 09

round 2 of stardrift challenge were held on 13th and 14th of june and it start off with two categories which is novice and expert. for me, this round is so far the best and most havoc of all the stardrift challenge series before because the number of participant is quite large. even the number of sponsored booth are increasing. drifters from Singapore were also there maybe to have some practice and setting up their machine before the big event FORMULA DRIFT in singapore this july.

the track layout this time is quite challenging for some of the drivers because the first clipping zone and corner stretch quite a distance. so some of the underpowered car cannot make it to the end of the first corner. they tend to understeer and straighten their car back. even some turbo charged car also cannot make it. but the difficulties and challenge that makes this round more competitive and fun to watch. the entry speed for this track is around 90 to 100 kmh.

too bad this time i didnt stay for the whole event because i got wedding to attend. but here's some pics that i manage to shot while im there.
